On to British countryside

We saw many double decker buses in London, and there were many such buses, cars, trucks, and motorcycles which sped past our B & B last night, making it difficult for Sharon to sleep.  Since it was so hot and there was no air conditioning, we had to have the windows open, and the traffic sounded like it was driving through our room.

After we left the busy London traffic, we enjoyed the cool ride down to our friend Margaret's house at village of South Wonston, near Winchester.  We enjoyed Margaret's garden for a while and then took a ride through the countryside for lunch at an English pub.

We enjoyed a lovely lunch at the carvery (the English word for a smorgasboard buffet).
Here is Cheryl and Margaret in front  with Jim and me in the back.  Sharon is the picture taker so doesn't appear in many pictures.

On our ride through the countryside, we encountered a huge lavender field.  From a distance, it looks like a huge lake, but close up, you can see the planted rows.

As we continued our journey, we saw many thatched roof buildings - many neat homes plus some barn buildings with the thatched roof.
